Business Document Management-Electronic Reporting Destinations-SQL Server Reporting Service-Document Types- Microsoft D365 F&O Bug
Oh wow! What a title
Don't be scared.
After our new business document management feature configuration, we have come across an issue.
As you know business document management is a new feature built on top of the ER framework and enables business users to edit business document templates. How cool is that, functionals do not really need technicals (that's never the case). 👀

Well, I was talking about the issue, business document management uses a specific document type to store the files in SharePoint. You create a new document type, select a SharePoint location link to the SharePoint site.
After you go to the Electronic reporting destination in the destination settings enable your new document type so any electronic reporting documents that you configured can be saved in the Sharepoint location.
But what was happening in our case any document you create any report you run would also be saving in the SharePoint location this caused the business other issues like purchase orders stopped sending out to suppliers etc.
So what we've done, we have changed the point of location back to Azure storage in the document types form that any SSRS report can be saved in the print archive again like used to. That did not fully resolve our problem as we still needed to save our ER documents in SharePoint. We've logged a ticket with Microsoft.
Microsoft's come back to us saying "this was a bug that reported before by Microsoft has evaluated this issue and determined this functionality is working as expected"
"A file is saved to a SharePoint folder if there exists a Document type (of Location: SharePoint) where its Document type starts with a letter that is before the letter ‘F’ (in the alphabetical order), like ‘A’"
Because of this expected behaviour, we had to apply a workaround by creating a new document type that starts with a letter after the letter 'F'. And configuring the new document type in the electronic reporting destination.
After that, we were all good 😊
